Candlestick Park (former stadium site)

Candlestick Park opened in 1960 on San Francisco’s southeastern waterfront and served as the home stadium for the San Francisco Giants (until 1999) and the San Francisco 49ers (until 2013). The stadium was widely noted for its exposed location and windy conditions and was the site of numerous major sporting and concert events over decades of use. After the teams relocated, demolition of the Candlestick Park structures began in 2015, removing a mid-20th-century piece of the city's sports infrastructure.
