South Station (South Terminal)

Opened in 1899, South Station's Beaux-Arts headhouse originally served as a major rail terminal for Boston and remains a primary intermodal transportation hub. It is the largest transportation center in New England, serving Amtrak, MBTA Commuter Rail, the Red Line via the underground station, and several intercity bus carriers. The station's historic headhouse building and adjoining concourses have undergone multiple renovations to accommodate modern commuter and intercity services.
