Rosedale (Washington, D.C.)

Rosedale, also known as Pretty Prospects, is a historic house located in the Cleveland Park Historic District of Washington, D.C. Built in 1793 by Revolutionary War Colonel Uriah Forrest, it incorporates a stone cottage from 1740, making it the oldest surviving house in the city. The property features terraced grounds that were once part of a larger estate. Rosedale has a rich history, having been owned by Forrest's descendants until 1920, and later rented to notable figures including Undersecretary of State William Phillips. Today, it is a National Register of Historic Places site and serves as a testament to the area's historical significance.
