Comegys House

The Comegys House, built in the 1860s in West Philadelphia, was an Italianate mansion owned by educator B. B. Comegys. After his death in 1900, the estate remained in the family until its sale to developers in 1959. Notably, the mansion's library was donated to the Smithsonian Institution, contributing to an exhibit on American history. Although the house was listed on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1965, it was ultimately demolished, marking the end of an era for this historic property.
