Indianapolis Motor Speedway (The Brickyard)

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened in 1909 and has hosted the Indianapolis 500 annually since 1911, except during wartime interruptions. The track is commonly nicknamed 'The Brickyard' because a one-yard section of the original brick surface remains at the start/finish line. The facility in the town of Speedway hosts numerous major racing events and motorsports-related attractions throughout the year.
