Michigan Central Station (ruins and restoration photos)

Michigan Central Station opened in 1913 as Detroit's primary passenger rail depot and was closed to regular service in 1988. Its long period of vacancy and visible decay made the building an iconic subject for urban exploration photography and widely shared images online. Ford Motor Company purchased the building in 2018 and began an extensive restoration program, which has generated additional media coverage and viral before-and-after photo series.
