Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Avenue) - former interactive museum of news

The Newseum operated at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW from 2008 until it closed to the public on December 31, 2019. While open it was distinctive for interactive exhibits on the history of news, First Amendment issues, and large-scale displays such as the guard towers and artifacts from the September 11 attacks. After closing, the Newseum’s building was sold and portions of its collection and exhibits were transferred or loaned to other institutions. Its decade-long presence on Pennsylvania Avenue made it a unique, though now-defunct, museum institution in Washington, D.C.
