The Parthenon in Centennial Park

The Parthenon is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens, constructed as the centerpiece of the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition. The temporary exposition structure was later reconstructed in permanent materials and now serves as the focal point of Centennial Park and as an art museum. The building houses a 42-foot statue of Athena Parthenos, a modern recreation by sculptor Alan LeQuire completed in 1990.
