Berea Fire Station

The Berea Fire Station, constructed in 1910, is the oldest functioning fire station in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is affectionately known as the 'Doll's House' due to its ornate, domestic-scale design. Built during a time of rapid growth in Johannesburg, it was established to combat the fire hazards posed by flammable building materials used in the mining town. The station features an eclectic neo-baroque Edwardian architectural style and retains many original features, including alarm bells.
