William Winston House

The William Winston House, located in Tuscumbia, Alabama, is a historic residence that dates back to the early 1800s. Initially constructed by merchant Clark T. Barton and completed in 1824 by planter William Winston, the house has deep historical ties, as Winston's son served as Governor of Alabama. The two-story brick structure showcases elegant architectural features, including a hipped roof, a portico supported by Tuscan columns, and a center-hall interior layout. The house remained in the Winston family until 1948 and is now surrounded by the Deshler High School campus. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Alabama's history.
