The Jewish House, Toledo

The Jewish House, or Casa del Judío, is a historic site in Toledo's Jewish quarter, built in the 14th and 15th centuries. Visitors can explore its beautifully preserved courtyard featuring intricate yeserias (carved plasterwork) and a significant basement, believed to be a Jewish mikveh for spiritual purification. Recent restorations have revealed Almagra style hydraulic plastering and a cistern, enhancing its historical importance. A notable wooden lintel in the basement showcases floral carvings and an inscription expressing gratitude, linked to Psalm 18, inviting the faithful into this remarkable piece of Jewish heritage.
