Royal Mint Court

Royal Mint Court is a historic building complex in East Smithfield, London, that served as the Royal Mint from 1809 to 1967. Originally the site of a Cistercian abbey established in 1348, it has a rich history including its use as a plague cemetery during the Black Death. The site features well-preserved foundations of the abbey and two Grade II listed mint buildings. After the mint's relocation, the area was redeveloped into offices and residential homes, with plans for further development as a shopping and leisure complex. In 2018, the site was sold to the People's Republic of China for their new embassy, making it a unique blend of historical significance and modern urban development.
