The Cloisters-reassembled medieval European cloisters

The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Fort Tryon Park, incorporates architectural elements-such as cloistered arches and chapels-brought from medieval European sites and reassembled in New York. Opened to the public in 1938, the museum houses a significant collection of medieval art and tapestries, including the famous Unicorn Tapestries.
