Gamli Garður

Gamli Garður, or Old Dormitory, is the oldest residence hall at the University of Iceland, established in 1934. This historic building features 44 cozy rooms and has recently expanded with a new annex offering an additional 69 rooms. It serves as a vibrant hub for international students during the academic year and transforms into a welcoming hostel for tourists in the summer months, making it an interesting spot for both visitors and researchers interested in Icelandic education and architecture.
