Jacob Raphael Building

The Jacob Raphael Building, a historic site in Davenport, Iowa, was completed in 1875 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. This two-story structure features a unique ground-floor arcade with fluted cast-iron columns and originally served as a tin-shop and rag warehouse for the Raphael family, who were part of the local Jewish community. It later became a cigar manufacturing hub, reflecting Davenport's status as the cigar capital of the Midwest in the late 19th century. Today, the building houses Raphael's Emporium, an antique store, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
