Ormsby Lodge

Ormsby Lodge, located in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, was the summer residence of artist Marjorie Acker Philips and her husband, art collector Duncan Phillips. Built in the 1880s, this Shingle Style home reflects the opulence of the era, standing on a 30-acre estate that once served as a summer retreat for Pittsburgh's elite. The lodge features grand architectural elements, including a wrap-around porch and towering ceilings, and was adorned with a rotating collection of art from Phillips' extensive gallery. After Duncan's death in 1966, the property changed hands and faced various redevelopment plans that ultimately fell through. Today, it remains a notable piece of local history, reflecting the cultural and social dynamics of late 19th-century America.
