The Peak Hotel

The Peak Hotel, established in 1888 at Victoria Gap on Hong Kong Island, was a historic hotel that began as a bar and restaurant. It was located near the Peak Tram's upper terminus, which started operations the same year. Originally a house named Dunheved, it was transformed into a hotel by Alexander Findlay Smith, who purchased the property in 1881. The hotel underwent several renovations, expanding to a four-story structure with stunning views of the city and Victoria Harbour. However, after changing ownership in 1922 and suffering from poor construction, it closed in 1936 and was ultimately destroyed by a fire in 1938. Today, the site is home to The Peak Galleria, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
