MTA Arts & Design program

MTA Arts & Design (formerly Arts for Transit) is the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's program that commissions and installs permanent and temporary artworks in New York City's transit system. Established in the 1980s, the program places mosaics, sculptures, murals, and integrated station designs across subway and commuter-rail stations. Notable commissions include works by Tom Otterness and many site-specific installations produced in partnership with local artists and architects.
