Rossmore Apartment House

The Rossmore Apartment House, a historic building in Downtown Louisville, Kentucky, was completed in 1894 and was notable for its Chicago-style architecture. Designed by local architect Kenneth McDonald, it featured a striking red brick facade with stone trim and a unique interior layout that included private hallways for apartments. Initially celebrated as the 'first metropolitan apartment house,' it transitioned to the Berkeley Hotel in the 1920s. Recognized for its architectural significance, the building was listed as historically significant in 1978 but has since been demolished, marking the evolution of Louisville's commercial landscape.
