1962 Alcatraz escape of Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers

On June 11, 1962, inmates Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin escaped from Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary by removing the back of their cells, climbing through utility corridors, and abandoning the island on an improvised raft made from raincoats. The three men were never found and their ultimate fate remains officially unresolved, making the escape one of the most notorious prison breaks in U.S. history. The escape prompted extensive searches and long-running investigations by the U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI.
