Evansville Municipal Market

The Evansville Municipal Market, also known as Old City Market, is a historic public market situated in downtown Evansville, Indiana. Designed by architect Edward J. Thole and constructed between 1916 and 1918, this two-story building showcases Prairie School architectural style with its distinctive low red pantile roof and deep overhanging eaves. Originally serving as a market, it was repurposed as a fire station in 1954 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
