Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site

Theodore Roosevelt was born at 28 East 20th Street in 1858. The original brownstone was demolished in 1916; a replica was reconstructed on the site and opened by the Women's Roosevelt Memorial Association in 1923. The house is administered as the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site and interprets Roosevelt's early family life and upbringing.
