Trude Building

The Trude Building, constructed in 1897 in Chicago, was an early skyscraper designed by Jenney & Mundie, standing between fourteen and sixteen stories tall. It was notable for being one of the first skyscrapers to face demolition, which occurred in 1912 to make way for an expansion of the Marshall Field and Company Building. The building housed significant tenants, including the advertising agency Lord & Thomas and the Social Democratic Party of America. Its demolition marked a pivotal moment in architectural history, as it was one of the first instances of a skyscraper being taken down, with its steel columns later repurposed in the Bosch Building.
