St Joseph's Convent, Taunton

St Joseph's Convent is a historic complex of 18th- and 19th-century buildings in Taunton, Somerset, originally established as a hospital in 1772. It later became a convent for Franciscan nuns and subsequently the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy, who operated a school on the site until 1976. The main building is a Grade II* listed structure, showcasing architectural evolution and community significance. Notably, the convent is associated with a reported miracle in 1809 involving Sister Mary Ann Wood, which adds to its historical intrigue. After serving various purposes, the complex was redeveloped into residential flats in 2005, making it a unique blend of history and modern living.
