Midland Mills is a historic former flax mill located on Silver Street in Holbeck, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Established in 1793, it played a significant role in the textile machinery industry, particularly during the 19th century. The mill changed ownership several times, with notable figures like the Drabble Brothers and Taylor, Wordsworth and Co. contributing to its legacy. At its peak, the factory was owned by Platts, which became the largest textile machine-maker globally. However, the decline of the manufacturing sector led to its closure in 1982. Today, Midland Mills has been repurposed into industrial units within the Holbeck Urban Village regeneration area, primarily hosting light industrial work, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring Leeds' industrial heritage.
