Menger Hotel (hauntings and Rough Riders link)

The Menger Hotel, opened in 1859 next to the Alamo, is historically documented as the location where Theodore Roosevelt recruited members of the Rough Riders in 1898. The hotel is one of San Antonio's oldest continuously operating hotels and is frequently included on local ghost tours. Over the years the Menger has been the subject of numerous ghost reports, including tales of a spirit called "Sallie," a chambermaid reported to appear on the second floor.
