Nur al-Din Bimaristan

Nur al-Din Bimaristan is a historic medieval hospital located in the heart of Damascus, Syria, built in 1154 by the Zengid Sultan Nur ad-Din. This architectural marvel showcases the advancements in medical care during the Islamic Golden Age. An extension was added in 1242 by the physician Badr al-Din, enhancing its capacity and services. After a restoration in 1975, it now serves as the Museum of Medicine and Science in the Arab World, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich history of medicine and healthcare in the region.
