Polytechnic Students' Union

The Polytechnic Students' Union, also known as the Vanha Poli, is a stunning National Romantic building located at Lönnrotinkatu 29 in central Helsinki. Designed in 1903 by architects Karl Lindahl and Walter Thomé, this historic structure originally served as a student union for the Helsinki Polytechnic Institute. Its unique architectural style features squared rubble granite, a round tower, and elements inspired by Karelian gables and medieval designs. Inside, visitors can explore a multi-functional space that includes fraternity rooms, a restaurant, and a grand meeting hall adorned with a blend of medieval and modern motifs.
