Executive Tower, Montevideo

The Executive Tower is the official workplace of the President of Uruguay, located in the heart of Montevideo, facing Plaza Independencia. Originally conceived in 1965 as a Palace of Justice, the project was halted due to a coup d'état and remained dormant for decades. In 2006, President Tabaré Vázquez revived the project, and the building was completed as an extension of the Estévez Palace, with the President's offices moving there in 2009. The tower features twelve floors, with the North Executive Tower housing key governmental offices, while the South Executive Tower accommodates various units related to the presidency. This modern architectural landmark not only serves as a hub for Uruguayan governance but also reflects the country's political history and resilience.
