Childs Restaurant (Surf Avenue)

The Childs Restaurant Building, a designated New York City landmark located on Surf Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn, was completed in 1917 and showcases Spanish Revival architectural elements. Originally built for the Childs Restaurants chain, it operated until 1943 before transitioning to various restaurants and nightclubs. In 2007, it was acquired by Coney Island USA, which now uses the space for a theater, bar, and exhibitions. The building, which suffered damage from Hurricane Sandy in 2012, was restored with community support and continues to serve as a cultural hub.
