First National Bank of Port Jefferson

The First National Bank of Port Jefferson is a historic building located in Port Jefferson, New York, known for its distinctive 2+1⁄2-story brick structure and a prominent turret with a slate roof. Originally a bank until 1948, it has since served various purposes, including a tax collector's office and plans for a music hall that never materialized. In 2016, the building was remodeled to feature retail space and luxury apartments, currently housing the store Kate & Hale. The site gained attention in 2021 when a teenage girl was rescued from a former bank vault after being accidentally locked inside, showcasing the building's intriguing past and community significance.
