Stormfield

Stormfield, the final residence of renowned author Mark Twain, is located in Redding, Connecticut. Built between 1907 and 1908 in the style of a Tuscan villa, it served as Twain's home until his death in 1910. The mansion was named after his short story 'Extract from Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven' and featured a unique design by architect John Mead Howells. Twain hosted many notable visitors, including Thomas Edison and Helen Keller, and engaged in leisure activities such as billiards and writing. The house was tragically destroyed by fire in 1923, but its legacy remains significant in American literary history.
