Casa del Fascio (Mogadishu)

The Casa del Fascio, also known as Casa Littoria, is a historically significant building in Mogadishu, Somalia, originally constructed between 1937 and 1939 as the headquarters of the National Fascist Party during Italian colonial rule. Designed by architects Baciocchi and Valenti, it features a striking 30-meter-high central tower, Torre Littoria, symbolizing fascist authority. After World War II, the building was repurposed as the first seat of the Somali Parliament following the country's independence in 1960, marking a significant shift from colonial power to national sovereignty. However, the Casa del Fascio was severely damaged during the Somali Civil War and now stands in ruins, with only the central tower and some walls remaining, serving as a poignant reminder of both the colonial past and the early years of Somali independence.
