Ingle Hall

Ingle Hall is a historic landmark located at the intersection of Macquarie and Argyle Streets in Hobart, Tasmania. Believed to be the oldest building in Hobart, its exact construction date remains uncertain, with estimates ranging from 1811 to 1814. Originally serving as a warehouse, it has had various uses over the years, including a general store, an inn, and even a school. The building is named after John Ingle, one of its early occupants, although some evidence suggests it was built by Edward Lord. Despite plans for demolition in 1949, the building was preserved and is now listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
