Michie Tavern

Michie Tavern, established in 1784 by Scotsman William Michie in Albemarle County, Virginia, is a historic landmark that served as a social hub for travelers, offering food, drink, and lodging. Originally an ordinary, it remained in the Michie family until 1910, after which it was purchased and relocated by Josephine Henderson in 1927. Now situated near Monticello, Michie Tavern features a collection of historic buildings, including a pub and restaurant, and retains the charm of an 18th-century inn. It is known for its large grouping of reassembled buildings and continues to operate as a family-run establishment, providing visitors with a glimpse into Virginia's rich history.
