Akademicheskaya Dacha

Akademicheskaya Dacha, located near Vyshny Volochyok in Tver Province, is the oldest creative hub of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation, nestled by the scenic Msta River and Lake Mstino. Established in 1884 as a summer retreat for impoverished students of the Imperial Academy of Arts, it has hosted renowned Russian artists like Ilya Repin and Isaac Levitan. Known as the 'Russian Barbizon', it played a crucial role in the development of Russian realistic art, particularly from the 1960s to 1980s. The Dacha was named after Ilya Repin in 1964, and features a monument dedicated to him, making it a significant site for art enthusiasts and researchers alike.
