Sherman Quarters

Sherman Quarters, also known as Sherman Rose House, is a historic adobe stone building located in Monterey, California, built in 1834 by Thomas O. Larkin. It served as the quarters for Lieutenant William Tecumseh Sherman during the U.S. military occupation of California in 1847. The building features a charming one-story design with fieldstone cladding and a picturesque garden shared with the Larkin House. Visitors can learn about its rich history, including Sherman's romantic legend involving a rose-tree, while enjoying the surrounding gardens. Although currently closed to the public, it is a designated historical landmark and can be viewed from the Larkin House garden.
