Stephen Symmes Jr. House

The Stephen Symmes Jr. House is a historic site located in Arlington, Massachusetts, with roots tracing back to 1703. Although often attributed to 1746, the house was likely constructed in 1841 and showcases stunning Greek Revival architecture, featuring a pillared porch on two sides. It is historically significant for its connection to Stephen Symmes Jr., who intended the property to serve as a hospital for the town. However, due to its location, the town opted to sell the estate and used the funds to build Symmes Hospital, which operated from 1901 until 1999 before being demolished in 2008. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a noteworthy destination for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
