Splitrock (Austin, Texas)

Splitrock is a historic house in Austin, Texas, built in 1893 by Scottish immigrant Robert F Burns. Situated on bluffs overlooking Shoal Creek, it is one of the earliest homes in the central Austin area, now part of the Pemberton Heights and Bryker Woods neighborhoods. The name 'Splitrock' comes from a nearby large rock formation and swimming hole. In 2006, it was designated a City of Austin Historic Landmark and is recognized as a contributing property to the Old West Austin National Register Historic District, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history.
