Ashton Town Hall

Ashton Town Hall, located on Katherine Street in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, is a stunning Grade II listed building designed in the Neoclassical style by Charles Lee and completed in 1840. The hall features a symmetrical facade with Corinthian columns and has a rich history, including serving as the municipal headquarters until 1974. It housed the Museum of the Manchester Regiment, showcasing military history, until its closure in 2016 for redevelopment. Notable artifacts include Turkish guns from the Greco-Turkish War, replacing earlier Russian guns from the Crimean War. The building is currently undergoing restoration, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers alike.
