Somerset House, Park Lane

Somerset House, built between 1769 and 1770 in the Mayfair area of London, was an 18th-century town house known for its elegant design and notable residents, including Warren Hastings, a former Governor-General of India. The house featured four storeys with bay windows and a courtyard leading to stables. It was owned by prominent figures such as the Dukes of Somerset, who renamed it Somerset House, and later by publisher George Murray Smith. Despite its historical significance, the house was demolished in 1915 as part of redevelopment efforts in Park Lane, reflecting the area's transformation from a residential haven to a more commercial landscape.
