Malvern Hill

Malvern Hill, located in Henrico County, Virginia, is a historic site known for its significance during the American Civil War, particularly the Battle of Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862. The site features the ruins of a 17th-century house built by Thomas Cocke, named after the Malvern Hills in England. Although the house was destroyed by fire in 1905, remnants of its structure, including one of the oldest man-made features in the county, can still be traced. The area has historical ties to the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 as well. Recently, the 871-acre Malvern Hill Farm was conserved to protect its historical and ecological value, with plans for public access and recreational use, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers.
