Sigvert Grubbe House

The Sigvert Grubbe House is a historic Renaissance-style townhouse located at Strandgade 28 in Copenhagen's Christianshavn neighborhood. Built in the 1620s, it features murals attributed to Nicolai Abildgaard and has been a protected building since 1918. The house was named after its first owner, Sigbert Grubbe, a favorite of King Christian IV. Over the years, it has housed notable figures, including Jacob Italiaender, a Sephardi Jew who established a tobacco factory and a private synagogue on the premises. The building is also known for being the childhood home of painter Peder Severin Krøyer.
