Queens Building, Townsville

The Queens Building is a heritage-listed shopping centre located at 175 Flinders Street in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Designed by the architectural firm Tunbridge & Tunbridge and completed around 1887, it reflects the prosperity of Townsville during the 1880s. The building is notable for its classical architectural features, including round-headed windows and a decorative parapet. It has served various commercial purposes over the years, including as a chemist shop by Pio Armati, an early Italian settler in the region. The building was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992, highlighting its significance in demonstrating the historical evolution of Queensland and its aesthetic contribution to the Townsville CBD.
