Ivar's Acres of Clams founded by Ivar Haglund on the Seattle waterfront

Ivar Haglund opened his first seafood stand on the Seattle waterfront in 1938 and established Ivar's Acres of Clams as a waterfront restaurant that same year. The restaurant became known for its clam chowder and seafood dishes and has been a visible part of Seattle's waterfront dining history for decades. Ivar's also played a role in popularizing ready-to-eat seafood fare for both locals and visitors.
