Phoenix Indian School (site redeveloped as Steele Indian School Park)

The Phoenix Indian School was a federally operated Indian boarding school that functioned on this site from 1891 until it closed in 1990. After the school's closure, the City of Phoenix redeveloped the campus as Steele Indian School Park, which opened in 2001. The park includes the Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center that preserves exhibits and records related to the school's history and its students.
