Boston Tea Party - Griffin's Wharf / museum at Congress Street

On December 16, 1773, colonists protesting British tea taxes boarded ships at Griffin's Wharf in Boston Harbor and dumped hundreds of chests of tea into the water in the event known as the Boston Tea Party. The approximate location of Griffin's Wharf is near present-day Congress Street; the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum at 306 Congress St commemorates and interprets the event. The museum includes replicas of the ships involved (Dartmouth, Eleanor, and Beaver) and exhibits about the tea shipments and colonial-era commerce.
