Institute Farm

Institute Farm, also known as the Loudoun Agricultural and Mechanical Institute, is a historic site located near Aldie, Virginia. Established around 1854, it was the first agricultural school in Virginia and one of the earliest in the United States. The institute faced challenges, including the Panic of 1857, and ultimately closed in 1860. The property, once part of President James Monroe's Oak Hill plantation, has a notable 3.5-story stuccoed stone building with original interior features and 13 log cabins used for lodging during beagle shows. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in agricultural history and architecture.
