Washington National Cathedral's national cultural role

The Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul (Washington National Cathedral) was constructed between 1907 and 1990 and serves as both a house of worship and a venue for national commemorations. It has hosted state funerals, presidential memorial services, and interfaith events that draw national attention. The cathedral also maintains artistic programs and houses notable works such as the Space Window, which contains a small lunar rock brought back by Apollo 11.
