Iranistan

Iranistan was a stunning Moorish Revival mansion in Bridgeport, Connecticut, commissioned by the famous showman P. T. Barnum in 1848. Designed by architect Leopold Eidlitz, this architectural marvel featured a blend of Byzantine, Moorish, and Turkish styles, inspired by the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, England. Barnum hosted notable figures such as Mark Twain and George Armstrong Custer at this extravagant residence, which boasted elaborate furnishings and beautiful grounds. Tragically, Iranistan was destroyed by fire in 1857, just a decade after its completion. Today, a model of Iranistan can be seen at the Barnum Museum, which also showcases Barnum's unique taste and contributions to American culture.
